Soundtrack - Worksheet #5
I used the sound panel on the right and searched for animals. I found and dragged over the sound of an Alligator into the timeline.

Then used Effects option, Scrolled down to Pitch option and then moved across to vocal transformer option. I then added it to the sound wave which pulls up this control panel, which allows me to change the pitch and the way the sound sounded.

Next I scrolled down in the Effects menu and click on the Modulation option and then went across to modulation Delay. I then added it to the sound wave which opens up this control panel which allows me to change the way the sound sounded.
Next I scrolled down within the effects menu and click on the Reverb option and then to Soundtrack Pro Reverb section. I added it to the sound wave which pull up this control panel which lets me to change the way the sound sounded.
Once finished with my sound I exported the sound as an AIFF File.

Soundtrack - Worksheet #3 √
1.
When devising a soundtrack you will be working with the director who will tell you how he wants the track to sound. You will be also working with the Video editor, sound mixer, composer, Music Editor, Re-Recording Mixer, Music Supervisor.
Picture lock is a stage in editing a film. It is the stage prior to on-line editing when all changes to the film or television program cut have been done and approved. It is then sent to subsequent stages in the process, such as online editing and audio mixing. Any last minute changes can force portions of subsequent work to be re-done.
2.
I will be getting my sound effects from - http://freesound.org. I will be getting my backing track from - http://incompetech.com
3.
There is a lot of different softwares to use to make your soundtrack like; Soundtrack Pro, Garage Band, Logic Pro… but, the software which i'm going to be using to make my soundtrack with "Soundtrack Pro" because it's a really good bit of software and it's easy to use when you know what you're doing.

WAV (Waveform Audio File Format)
Filename Extension: .wav
Format Type: Uncompressed
Format Type: Uncompressed
WAV files are popular because they are considered a “first generation” format. That is, they are generally kept as the first digital copy of a file completely uncompressed. This means that WAV files are the best quality and have not gone through any digital alterations except to be outputted.
The bad side of using this type of compression is that it is a large file size. If you download a song from a Free Stock Music website, you’ll notice the WAV files are a lot larger files than the MP3 files.
WAV files is a good format to have, however, because they allow the most flexibility. They are ideal for making copies of songs from because of their “first generation” status.
AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format)
Filename Extension: .aif or .aiff
Format Type: Uncompressed
Format Type: Uncompressed
In terms of file size and quality, AIFF and WAV formats are fairly interchangeable. The AIFF format results in an uncompressed PCM (pulse-code modulation) file meaning it still has relatively large file sizes, but maintains a higher quality of sound.
If you look at a free stock music website the AIFF files and WAV files have similar file sizes as WAV also uses PCM.
AIFF files are the Apple/Macintosh equivalent of WAV files, though both Windows PCs and Apple Macs will recognise either format.
MP3 (MPEG-2 Audio Layer III)
Filename Extension: .mp3
Format Type: Lossy Compressed
Format Type: Lossy Compressed
MP3 does not have nearly the same amount of quality as WAV or AIFF files formats but, for some people the MP3 format is just easier to use for people with not a lot of disk space on their computer, also If you have a slower internet connection, MP3 could be your file format of choice.
Well, the MP3 format uses compression which actually removes data from a song using complicated algorithms. The reason for removing this data is to save space and make the file smaller.
If you’re worried about quality loss, don’t fret too much about it. While, yes, there is a noticeable drop off in sound quality, MP3 files fall square under the “good enough” umbrella.

The Treatment
Treatment
“One More”
This will be a fast action film with many fast edits and cuts to keep the viewer excited.
I feel it could be the start of a great film / TV concept.
The film is about A secret agent ( Agent Q6 ) who works for MI5, he is the best
there is.
While on a special mission he is killed. His body is collected and taken to a special project facility where his body is entered into the “Photostat” program. This is a new secret and experimental project. Once put through the system the body comes back to life and gives the Agent a sort of superpower which means he is able to regenerate a number of clones (only one at a time) and effectively come back to life again if killed.
In my film our hero above is sent on a dangerous mission by his commander.
This takes him to a world of villains and baddies that he has to battle with to complete his mission. During this mission he gets to use his regeneration power.
Within this short film I develop a character ( Agent Q6 ) that could become a hero or slip into the dark side. It is the sort of story that could lead to many films being based around the Photostat program and or my hero Agent Q6.
Outline budget:
I am making the film without a budget other than the time of the people / actors and my time to write / create and edit the film.
I have a few friends lined up to play the roles within the film and as its a short film I expect the filming will take up no more than a couple of days.
I have already found the locations and although not close to each other the travelling will be easy / simple to arrange. So we will travel by train to one location in London a friend's mothers office and by car to a local run down building which is ideal for most of the action scenes etc.
Equipment / Software
I already have a camera and tripod plus lighting if required. I am hoping not to have to use lighting but I have it on standby if needed.
To make this film work I will need to spend a lot of time after it has been filmed adding special effects. I again already have the software I need to edit and create the special effects I want. Below is a list of software I expect to need / use.
Final Cut pro X
After Effects
Cinema 4D
Video Copilot Pro Scores
Video Copilot Action Essentials
Davinci Resolve
Cast
I don’t need a large cast and in effect there are only 4 main characters but gang members make up the backing and I can use as many as I can get to join in.
Below is a list of the characters I need to find actors for:
Agent Q6
This is the main character in the film. He is the good guy but very much with a darkside.
He is confident and knows he can survive any situation.
Head of MI5
Agent Q6’s old boss who does not like him.
John Siren
Main boss of the bad guys.
Hologram
Appears in Agent Q6’s car and gives him his missions.
Goon / Gang member 1
Goon / Gang member 2
Goon / Gang member 3
Goon / Gang member 4
Costumes / props
My cast will need normal clothes but we will need a selection of guns / weapons.
I have a friend that has lots. Problem is they are all orange and I need them to look real so we will spray them all black before filming
Contingency plans
As I am using friends the main problem would be that they can’t make it or something like that.
I have a few friends that have volunteered to help so even if someone could not make it I should be covered.
I have selected the sets carefully but if for some reason we could not get to them I can film at home or outside.
All / 90% of the filming is inside so weather should not be a problem.
Research
I have spent a bit of time looking for the right setting for this film as it will help set the atmosphere.
I plan to use a friend’s mothers office in London and a local run down building for most of the filming.
As this is a secret agent film I have enjoyed myself watching many great films like James Bond. I was also lucky enough to go to the James Bond exhibition with my college that help with my research.

Proposal

“One More”
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to propose an idea for an exciting short film called “One More”.
I will be using the single camera techniques when shooting this film. It will be aimed at viewers of the the age of 15 - 60 years plus. The film will be 10 minutes long and will be about a secret agent ( Agent Q6 ) who works for MI5 and is at the top of his game. While on a major mission he to confident / cocky and is killed in the middle of his mission.
His body is then entered into the “Photostat” program. This gives him a sort of superpower
and is able to regenerate a number of clones (only one at a time).
Its is the sort of story that could lead to many films being based around the Photostat program and my hero Agent Q6.
As this is a short film the cast is very small and features :
Agent Q6 played by James Hodges
This is the main character in the film. He is the good guy but very much with a darkside.
He is confident and knows he can survive any situation.
Head of MI5 and Goon 1 played by Connor Blake
Agent Q6’s old boss who does not like him.
Goon 2 played by Harry Finch
Gang member and henchman
Goon 3 played by Aaron Smerald
Gang member and henchman and right hand man to John Siren
Goon 4 and John Siren played by Harry Payne
Main boss of the bad guys.
Hologram played by Ashley Hodges ( Me )
Appears in Agent Q6’s car and gives him his missions.
The plan is to film it on location in and around the Brentwood area. I have already been out and inspected the places I want to film in and I know they will work well.
To make this film work I will need to spend a lot of time after it has been filmed adding special effects. this I will do using the After Effects software on my Mac.
This will be challenging and fun. To help set the atmosphere and create the effects I plan to use :
Final Cut pro X
After Effects
Cinema 4D
Video Copilot Pro Scores
Video Copilot Action Essentials
Davinci Resolve
This will be a fast action film with many fast edits and cuts to keep the viewer excited.
I hope you like the sound of my idea as I feel it could be the start of a great film / TV concept and I look forward to working with you on it.
I know the above is very brief and that you will have many questions so I would welcome the chance to come in and talk the idea through etc.
Yours Sincerely
Ashley Hodges

Diary Entry #2
Wednesday 30 April 2014
Today, I learnt how to use After effects and because of this i'm going to try use this in my Single camera drama. I might use it for colour correction, a title sequence and special effects.
I've made some process in the planning and the pre-proctuction work by making a Trello account and making a big check list of everything that needs to be done.
